CEREMONY TIPS & MONEY SAVING IDEAS FROM
BRIDES & GROOMS
- "Getting ready with my five bridesmaids at my mom's
house seemed like a great idea. Boy, was that ever a big mistake.
With two flower girls, one ring bearer, mom, dad, three ushers and their
girlfriends (greeters and guest book attendant), two Aunts and four
Cousins all getting ready in the same house caused more stress than I
care to remember. Many things were going wrong: florist running
late, two missing bowties, inclement weather (rain), telephone call from
Limo driver stating he could not find the house. Everything turned
out alright but these things caused me so much stress I wasn't really
able to fully enjoy my wedding day. If I had it to do over again I
would get ready at the church with just my bridesmaids and mom."
- "I spent a fortune on flowers for my wedding.
During the year following my wedding I attended six other weddings.
After each of these weddings I found out that the couples saved a ton of
money by using silk and other types of artificial flowers. I could
not tell the difference and I'm sure no one else could either.
Even if they could, who would care."
- "My wedding photography experience was a nightmare.
My bridal party and some family members were not helping at all.
Half of them were nowhere to be found when it came time for the
post-ceremony alter shots, and the other half were on their cell-phones.
My photographer and videographer were doing a great job in helping round
everyone up for the alter shots that I wanted very much, but even they
could not perform miracles when our family and friends went into "party
mode" earlier than they should have. We were an hour and a half
late for our own wedding reception. Several weeks before my
wedding Bruce from WilksVision told me this situation happened quite
frequently and offered the suggestion that I talk with my bridal party
and family before the wedding day to ask them for their help in making
the photo shoots go smoothly. In hindsight, I wish I would have
done that."
