Advice from newlyweds.

"Definitely get a Videographer!!  I was so worried about getting good pictures that initially I was willing to pay more for them and not get a
videographer.  In the long run I decided to go with WilksVision and I am so glad I did.  I love my video!!  A video will allow you to see and
re-live your day so much more than your pictures will.  I could have gone with a much smaller photo package because the pictures don't come
even close to comparing to my video!!"

"Take the time on your wedding day to enjoy it! Let the wedding vendors worry about their jobs while you enjoy. Also, this is the most
important...Have your wedding day professionally captured on video...You will thank yourself a thousand times afterward!!  It goes by
quickly and video will last forever.  Every time we watch our video we always see something else we never knew occurred.  Professional
video really is the way to go!"

"I wasn't as picky as I should have been.  This is an extremely important day, and everyone wants everything to be perfect.  It would have been
if we weren't so concerned with saving money on everything.  We spent too much on some things and not enough on others.  Make sure to
ask every question you could possibly think of.  See examples from previous weddings from ALL your vendors.  Ask to talk to other people
who used them.  It will make your day easier and better in the long run!"

"1. Get as much in writing as possible. Some vendors have a way of "forgetting" that you asked or paid for something when the time comes.
 2. If nothing else, get a video!!  I cannot stress this enough.  Having that video allows us to relive that day again and again.  It also captures
moments that are timeless and irreplaceable.
 3. I cannot stress enough the importance of a good DJ.
 4. Remember, you do get what you pay for! If it sounds too good to be true.....it is.
 5. Be clear with every vendor as to what you like and what you dislike.  Don't be afraid to ask for something you don't see.  It is YOUR day!
This is one time that you need to voice your opinion and be honest because it may only cause misery in the end if you do not!"

"1. Get as much done as early as possible.
  2. Make out a list of priorities, and figure out when your willing to spend a little less in order to spend a little more on something down the road.
  3. Network, network, network.  I was lucky enough to have a family member as a seamstress.  She made all of my Bridesmaid's dresses for a fraction
of what it would have cost to order them from a bridal shop.
  4. Involve you family, but realize that it is YOUR day.  If you don't feel comfortable with something, let them know right away otherwise you'll
      hate yourself later."

"1. Get a 3 ring binder with dividers to keep track of everything.  This helps you to stay organized and really cuts down on the stress level.
  2. Start planning early!!  The sooner you start, the better chance you will have of getting the vendors you want.  Many vendors fill their dates
up to a  year in advance.
  3. Check the Internet for items before buying them in the store.  You will be surprised how much cheaper the same product is on-line.
  4. Have friends and relatives take pictures throughout the day.  It is nice to have pictures that aren't all just posed.  I have more of those pictures
framed than I do the ones taken by the hired photographer.
  5. Consider having the bridesmaids dresses made.  Reta Cantrell in Dekalb (815-756-5707) made my bridesmaids dresses at a fraction of the cost
and they were beautiful.  The total cost for each dress was $65 and the dresses fit each girl perfectly.  The same dress in a bridal magazine or
catalog cost $175, not including alterations!"
